Morgan A. Grain is a Chicago based writer, producer and filmmaker who was born in Orlando and bred in Atlanta, so she calls herself a Florida peach. After studying journalism at Florida A&M University she started her career in magazines, writing for outlets like PAPER.com, Harlem World Magazine, Huffington Post Black Voices and Okayplayer.com. She continues to write freelance articles on entertainment, art, and culture for Essence and Complex. After earning her master's in creative writing, film and black women in media studies from New York University, Morgan pivoted to screenwriting. Her short film, GIRLS NIGHT IN, premiered at California Women’s Film Festival in 2022. She worked as a writers’ assistant on Hulu's REASONABLE DOUBT and HBO’s adaptation of Toni Morrison’s SULA before participating in the 2023 Disney Writing Program where she became a staff writer on season two of Hulu’s one-hour drama TELL ME LIES. In 2025 she was a MVICW Poet and Author Fellowship finalist for The Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing for her short story Friends Who Kiss. She is currently a story editor on season four of REASONABLE DOUBT.
